“RUmBO AL ESTE” PROJECT
Social Promotion, through “Rumbo al Este”, has provided support to social initiatives in Spain to contribute to the comprehensive education of young people in a non-formal learning environment. This has favored their professional development, the acquisition of skills and social skills, as well as their commitment and active involvement in the needs of their environment.
In 2018, more than 800 young people from 13 youth associations throughout Spain have benefited from “Rumbo al Este”.
Youth mUN madrid
Youth Mun MADRID (YMM) is an initiative of Social Promotion, whose objective is
that young people of school age become familiar with the Model United Nations (MUN), carrying out simulations in which they represent member countries of the UN. In this way, they approach the world of diplomacy and negotiation to find solutions to the problems that are part of the international agenda.
During 2018, the young people, as part of the learning, have participated in the training sessions of YMM, and have been part of other MUN congresses, such as MUN Bilbao or SEKMUN. To conclude, YMM held its first congress on June 23 and 24, and subsequently organized a trip to Strasbourg, Geneva, Lausanne, and Lyon in July to visit the Institutions of Europe.
After the good reception of the initiative, in the month of October YMM launched its second edition, accommodating young people from the Canary Islands.
In 2018, this activity was supported by “la Caixa” Foundation and the Queen Sofía Foundation
During 2018, Social Promotion has developed its intercultural project “Next Stop Europe”, which is part of the European Volunteering Service (EVS) of the Erasmus program of the European Commission
Three European young people, from Germany, Serbia, and Ukraine, have volunteered for 9 months, organizing intercultural workshops in English for girls and adolescents of youth associations with which the Foundation maintains a collaboration agreement so that they become aware of their European citizenship and open their minds to customs other than their own..
