Similarly, in Rome, the CEMO held a Seminar in May dedicated to the role of interreligious dialogue in conflict resolution in the Middle East, a region where the religious factor continues to
be used to fuel extremism, conflict, and violence.
Later, in the month of December, the Italian Embassy to the Holy See hosted the seminar “The future of religious minorities in the Middle East”, also promoted by Religion & Security Council, to address the challenges and perspectives of religious minorities in areas in crisis, the role of Christians in the resolution of conflicts and interreligious dialogue or the role of the international community in the protection of minorities.
FORUm OF LATIN AmERICA
Social Promotion, within the framework of the Latin America Forum created in 2009 in Rome, promotes meetings between Latin American diplomats and journalists to discuss current issues on
Latin America. In 2018, 6 of them were carried out to address issues such as climate change and energy, regional emigration, issues related to the Church, the challenges of their relationship with young people or the importance of WYD in Panama in Central America, and policies, analyzing the future of some countries according to the electoral calendar.
AWARENESS INITIATIVES CONFERENCES
Throughout the year, Social Promotion has promoted several conferences and initiatives that help to know and raise awareness about the reality of the countries in which it works.
Thus, the week of October 1 to 5, Orvalle School of Madrid and the Foundation conducted an awareness campaign for all the courses about the situation of Syrian families who have been forced to flee their country because of war. This initiative was framed in the objective of the school for the 2018/2019 school year: “The Conquest of Freedom”, and began the annual Solidarity Campaign, with the aim of raising funds in support of the Foundation humanitarian aid projects.
