This project, funded by the Government of Valencia, complements the system of education reform in Mozambique developed during from 2006 to 2011, which required schools to provide educational materials necessary for changes in the curriculum of secondary education, which went from an academic model to a model more geared to training in skills useful for employment. The government, because of budget cuts, was not able to equip all schools, leaving out in particular rural schools.

Thanks to this Project, textbooks have been purchased for all levels and subjects. Improvements in the conditions of the studies will improve student outcomes and therefore, in the long term, enhance opportunities for employment of these young people.

The beneficiaries of the project were 3,286 students. The school teachers have benefited from this project in the same way, since, thanks to the materials provided, they have been able to answer questions respecting the content and pedagogical approach of the new school curriculum.

With an average of 5 persons per family, the indirect beneficiaries will amount to more than 15,000 people, who can take advantage of the capabilities of the high school students.

The books purchased were chosen by teachers from schools after evaluating the various options available in the market. Likewise, the choice was made of sports equipment.

The counterpart of this project was the ESMABAMA Association, whose objective is the development of the town of Sofala, one of the poorest regions of Mozambique, giving priority to children and youth through coordinated and complementary three areas of work: Basic Education, Basic Health and Agricultural Development-Food Sovereignty.
