The second year of the project implementation begins. “Organized farmers strengthen the social, economic and productive fabric, and their living conditions in the micro watershed Guineamayo (Cajamarca – Peru)”, carried out by FPSC together with its local partner ESCAES, and the financing of Obra Social “la Caixa”.
This project aims at the socioeconomic development of the vulnerable population in one of the most depressed areas of the Cajamarca region (Peru).
Thanks to agricultural activities related to the cultivation of avocado and beans, as well as the raising of guinea pigs, small producers are emerging from an economy based on self-consumption to produce surpluses that can be sold in the local market, increasing in this way their income.
This factor, coupled with an increase in the quantity and quality of their food, being now more varied and healthy, thanks to the training given in the framework of the project, has reverted in an improvement of their quality of life.
In addition, the project is committed to quality technical training so that productive initiatives are carried out in an appropriate way and are sustainable over time. But it is also committed to human capacities, offering training in human rights, with special attention to food and women, on which various workshops have been held.
As a culmination of the first year of action, last December the III Gastronomic Festival and the II Fair for the promotion of agricultural products were held.
