On 11 February, the President of the Foundation, Pilar Lara, the General Secretary, Monica Bohigues, and Institutional Relations Director, Blanca de Mesa, began a visit for a week to Lebanon, in which they met with many heads of international organizations and local partners of the Foundation.
From the office in Beirut, along with local partners and expatriate staff of the Foundation, the FPSC checked the progress of cooperation projects being implemented in Lebanon.
The complex situation in Lebanon in recent months has made the answer to the problem of Syrians refugees displaced there a top priority for all actors in development cooperation.
Today the 900,000 Syrians in Lebanon are 20% of the Lebanese population. This figure is too high to be absorbed without social conflicts. The close relationship of the populations of the two countries has allowed so far, that Syrian refugees have been integrated into Lebanese society, but this is no longer possible and the international community must respond to this emergency.
The Foundation is already working to provide their help and experience for these families to meet basic living conditions as soon as possible, at least until the end of
the conflict in their country.
