Last March the construction and equipment of the Training Centre were completed, it will be part of the Social Centre Vega Baja, social centre for the training of young women from rural areas in the town of Diriamba, Carazo. The construction of this centre is part of the project “Empowerment of rural poor women of the Department of Carazo, Nicaragua, through the implementation of a program of technical and vocational training oriented to entrepreneurship and leadership,” funded by the Junta de Castilla y Leon and ending in August this year.
After completion of construction, planned activities associated to the Centre have begun, such as the training of the students in various subjects, and procedures to offer as soon as possible food services and rental of meeting rooms, which will contribute to the sustainability of the education project.
To date, they have taught the courses planned, fully practical, kitchen, bakery, sewing, hotel maid and entrepreneurship, which have been very successful. During the training we had the support and advice from the area prestigious businesses, whose facilities are visited by the students. Also, many of the professionals of these companies collaborate with imparting training courses and thus establishing contact with the student centre.
Moreover, to ensure the success of the educational project we are establishing relationships and partnerships with organizations in the area. To date, it has been signed an agreement with Carazo Chamber of Tourism (CANTUR); constantly new partnerships are created with companies capable of accommodating the students and we are working on generating products with their own label to sell through the major food chains in the region.
