Dear friends,

The launch of this first issue of the Bulletin coincides with the 25th Anniversary of the FPSC.

For this occasion we have chosen a theme that I believe meets the goals pursued since the inception of the Foundation for Social Promotion of Culture: “The person as the protagonist of time they have lived.”

The person is the real star of his time, able to transform the reality that surrounds him.

If we transfer this idea to the areas in which the Foundation works– international development cooperation, cultural and educational cooperation, and volunteering and social action– we can ensure that the person, without a doubt, is the protagonist of the changes occurring in the time they live in, not just because of donors and volunteers, whose actions are essential to improving the living conditions of disadvantaged people, but also and more specifically, because of the ultimate beneficiaries of these actions, who must play a leading role in building a better future for their families and themselves. This is why the Foundation has always considered education as an engine of development and has worked for years  with priority in this sector.

In the diptych created on the occasion of our 25th anniversary, accessible from this first issue of the Newsletter, you will find focused and concise information on the agenda of our Foundation, sectors and countries where we work, the Middle East being the priority area of action, and information about the Center for Middle Eastern Studies of the FPSC which was established in 2007 and the Development NGO Networks Euro-Arab countries (READI), Latin American countries (REDI) and countries in Eastern Europe and the Balkans (ESBAL) which were promoted by the Foundation.

I hope this newsletter will contribute to a better understanding of the FPSC and the projects we develop.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2012.
