The first activities of the project “Improving the lives of four rural communities in the department of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, through the provision of potable water,” are underway. From December 31, 2013 FPSC develops it in partnership with the Association for the Eradication of Poverty (APEP).

Thus, during the first meeting with the community of Villa Enconada it has been reported the start of the project, establishing the responsibilities of each of the beneficiaries in the project and coordinating the start of drilling the water well and the works for the domestic distribution system.

In addition to Villa Enconada, 3 other communities (La Ripiera, Nueva Esperanza and San Antonio), inhabited mainly by people of Guarani origin, will benefit by drilling water wells and the construction of distribution systems for home drinking water. In total, over 4,000 people will have access in their own homes, to reliable sources of drinking water. Besides it is planned to create water cooperatives in every community, so that communities, once the project is completed, can manage water systems. So that they do it properly they will be formed in this type of management as well as health and hygiene habits.

Today, there are already drilled 3 wells in as many communities, past the Carnival, the construction of a 20,000 liters overhead water tank in the community of Villa Enconada will begin. All other activities will be happening throughout the 16 remaining months of the project.
