The “Our Lady of Peace Centre” project is aimed to improve the health services for one of the most vulnerable groups: the persons with disabilities. Creating the centre in this region has enabled the diagnosis and treatment of physical and physical disabilities, contributing to the improvement of the health and life standards of this community. The needs of disabled people have been often disregarded due to the influence of ancestral beliefs and traditions, especially in rural areas.

The initiative of Our Lady of Peace Centre represents a breakthrough for the social integration of disabled people in Jordan. The innovative services provided are complemented with active work on awareness and advocacy for the social and institutional recognition of the rights of the disabled people.

Our Lady of Peace Centre is located in Al Um-Kundun, 15 Km from Amman. The centre belongs to the Latin Vicariate in Jordan and was built during the period 2001-2004 with the support of the FPSC. The project cost amounted more than 850.000 Euros.

More than 900 enjoy every year the various services offered by the centre and its facilities organized as follows:

Basement: Dining room, physiotherapy hall, swimming pool, changing rooms, kitchen and heating systems. The dinning hall is a multi-purpose room equipped to be used as a meeting or conference hall. The physiotherapy hall, changing rooms and indoor swimming pool are available for rehabilitation treatments and therapies for disabled people.

First floor: Besides the administrative and management offices, in this floor are located the ophthalmology clinic, dentist as well as training halls and rooms for groups educational therapies. All premises are equipped with necessary updated equipments.

The second and third floors, with their 20 rooms and 75 beds, offer comfortable longing for the implementation of activities, patients and any other pertinent activity.

The external facilities include the electric generators, parking lost and auditorium.
