The Regional Government of Madrid allocated 120,000 euro’s to support the humanitarian activities of the Foundation for the Social Promotion of Culture (FPSC). During the press conference held at the end of May, the spokesman of the CAM stated that the activities that are carried out target the humanitarian crisis that is causing the war in Syria.
The project in which the FPSC will collaborate with the Migrant Centre of Caritas Lebanon and the Lebanese university aims to improve the living conditions of 400 Syrian families who are refugees in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. For seven months hygiene kits will be distributed that will help the refugees to prevent catching diseases and epidemics. Furthermore, alimentary aid will be provided as well as several campaigns to inform the refugees about the importance of prudential health and hygiene measures within the difficult circumstances that they are facing.
The 400 families that will participate in this project will be carefully selected among those most in need. The project mainly targets women, children and the Palestinian families who were refugees in Syria at the time of the conflict and were forced to leave Syria and enter for the second time a new country as a refugee. The project is also targeting the ones who are not receiving aid from any other organization.
This project is part of the humanitarian aid strategy which the FPSC is implementing within Syria and the countries that are affected by the war in this country like Lebanon and Jordan. Some donors that are providing support are the CAM, AECID, OCHA and some individuals who wanted to collaborate non for profit.
During the press conference that was mentioned before, the CAM also announced the funding of three other projects of the Red Cross and the Firefighters without borders in Mali, Algeria and Haiti.
