Eleven months after the first session of the Steering Committee of the Water Convention managed by the FPSC, the FPSC’s team in Palestine traveled to Jordan to participate again in the second session of the Committee.
In order to continue the task of creating a space where experiences can be exchanged among key actors in the field of water management in the region, the Steering Committee proposed to create an online portal in which all information generated by this project can be shared.
In addition to presenting the activities to date, and the level of indicators achieved, the partners presented their main concerns and problems in implementing the activities. The session was attended by the Technical Project Manager, Juan Carlos Lopez of the OTC Jordan, who included in his statement the importance of creating spaces for dialogue between Palestine and Jordan. Likewise, the UN agency FAO participated in the Committee and encouraged partners to develop a sustainability plan for the Convention.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Palestinian Water Authority, Ministry of Agriculture, Jordan and other key local organizations in the area.
The Convention, “Improving the management of water resources in agriculture to ensure food security in the Palestinian Territories and Jordan” is funded by AECI and implemented by local partners and JOHUD and PARC.
