During the last week of August, from the 22nd to the 25th, FPSC organized a 3 day conference in Amman with its affiliates for the Regional Convention of “Improving social integration of disabled people in the Middle East through accessibility” funded by AECID. The other organizations who participated in the convention included: CEOSS (Egypt), Arcenciel (Lebanon) and Al Hussein Society (Jordan). In addition, Her Highness Princess Majda Raad, and the General Coordinator of the OTC in Jordan, Gregorio Marañón attended as well.
The first two meetings analyzed the status of implementation of the Convention, exchanged view and discussed ways to improve the process of implementation of activities, and identified new areas of work for 2013. At the third meeting, the AHS counterpart organized a visit to Zarqa, the professional training center Jabal Tariq, and the medical center, Al Musherfeh, where thanks to the agreement secured by the Convention, it is accessible and properly equipped for training people with disabilities (Jabal Tariq). Furthermore, the technical team from Arcencial visited several schools to consider possible adjustments to make the spaces more handy-capped accessible.
It is intended through this approach to continue working on coordinating and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of implementing the different actions of the Convention.
