Training of young women as peace mediators in the Keserouan area

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to promoting the change necessary to ensure a stable and lasting peace, teaching local actors to face reality and to work on identifying solutions aimed at the common good.

The specific objective of this proposal is to launch a training program on personal leadership and teamwork, based on women as mentors: at school, at university, at work and in the family.

The project is developed in the Keserouan area, a northern suburb of Beirut inhabited by the middle class and with a population of 95,000. Keserouan is home to the “Nawras” training center, run by Prodes, which welcomes students from the south and north of the country. This means that the impact of the applied actions will go beyond the local sphere and will also benefit communities in other geographical areas. It is estimated that some 400 beneficiaries (young women and students) will participate over 12 months of activities.
