Improving living conditions for rural communities in Bolivia through targeted water supply interventions
The project is a contribution to the consolidation of a fundamental right of individuals, such as access to drinking water, in 8 communities in Bolivia: The Ripiera, New Hope, Morebiti, El Pilar, Villa Enconada, San Rafael, San Antonio Lomerío and Samaipata, which currently the supply of drinking water is not guaranteed: consumption is restricted and the water is always contaminated, which threatens the survival of communities.
To achieve this, the project includes the following activities:
- Drilling water wells in the communities of Morebiti, El Pilar, La Ripiera, Nueva Esperanza and Villa Enconada.
- Construction of elevated water tanks and pump houses in the communities of Morebiti, El Pilar, La Ripiera, Nueva Esperanza and Villa Enconada.
- Construction of water purification plants in the communities of San Rafael, San Antonio Lomerío and Samaipata.
- Installation of pumping equipment, matrix network extension and household connections in the communities of Morebiti, El Pilar, La Ripiera, Lomerío San Antonio, Nueva Esperanza and Villa Enconada.
- Training in cooperative water systems.
- Training on basic hygiene and rational use of water.
- Creation of local water cooperatives.
- Transfer of water systems to water cooperatives in each community.
