Training and accompaniment of young coordinators volunteers from Madrid in the COVID-19 context
During the academic year 2020-2021, the project will train 15 young volunteers from Madrid, more than 80% of whom are women, to empower them as coordinators of leisure and accompaniment volunteering activities in occupational centres and of youth and social participation activities, in a COVID-19 context.
In addition to training, accompaniment work will be carried out in order to give visibility to the activity by inviting new young people to participate, correcting undesired aspects of the activity and ensuring correct and effective coordination with the management of the occupational centres and with those responsible for the Youth MUN Madrid activity.
The objective is to guarantee in the different scenarios that are generated due to COVID-19 the activities of:
- Leisure & accompaniment volunteering of young professional volunteers in Occupational Centres of the Community of Madrid (CAM) for people with intellectual disabilities: Barajas and/or Ciudad Lineal. This volunteering is carried out within the framework of a collaboration agreement between Promoción Social and the Consejería de Políticas Sociales y Familia (currently the regional office of Social Policies, Families, Equality and Natality and Social Services Council of the Government ofConsejería de Políticas Sociales, Familias, Igualdad y Natalidad) and the Agencia Madrileña de Atención Social (AMAS), which expressly requested this activity of accompaniment on weekends, given the difficult logistics of the centre which makes it difficult for the residents to go out more autonomously.
- Youth volunteering in the framework of the Youth MUN Madrid programme for the promotion of leadership and participation aimed at young women between 14 and 17 years of age in Madrid. The project offers the possibility of bringing political representation spaces closer to young people and to do so with equal opportunities, so that the voices and proposals of young women in our country are heard. The volunteer YMM coordinators are essential in the development of this initiative.
