The “Workshops for the XXI Century Woman” are part of the FPSC´s project which is having the same name and is funded by the Institute for Women.
The day was divided into three sessions.
The first session was devoted to the issue of preparation for working life that was given by Maria Hernandez-Sampelayo, professor at the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences at the University Camilo José Cela.
Moreover, she has a PhD in History and she has held several positions of responsibility in the University Centre of Vilanueva. Mrs. Hernandez -Sampelayo is also affiliating with the University Complutense of Madrid. Among others with the Director of the University Extension and the Education Area Director.
During the session Mrs. Hernandez-Sampelayo referred to the concept of Emotional Fear as the main obstacle to professional development, encouraging the audience to get out of what she calls “the control zone” where what is sought is the safety and comfort .Instead, she urged the young participants to search for what they really want.
Thereafter, the focused on specific aspects needed in search of employment like the time indications of making the resume or preparing for a personal interview.
The second session was devoted to the professional experience and consisted of a panel discussion aiming at promoting an open dialogue between professional women from diverse backgrounds. The women could share in person the difficulties they have faced in their career, their vision of a women´s role in a professional life and how they could reconcile professional aspirations with motherhood. This has caused a debate on the issues of reconciliation and responsibility and included the participation of young assistants in the round after the questions.
The participants were Maria Pilar Moreno Fernández, Technical Advisor at the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, Isabel Estalella Otero, Associate Director of the Executive MBA IESE and Ines Garcia Paine, Director of Communication and Corporate Responsibility at Bankinter. The panel was moderated by José Luis Zatarain, the Director of Communication and Volunteering of the FPSC.
The third session with the title the healing begins at home included the presentations held by David Suriol, the entrepreneur and partner in Deutecno and Miguel Janer, a journalist, teacher and a business coach. Both participate in Life C staff communications consultancy dedicated to the integral development of people in personal communication skills.
Recently the TV program Convive! has been launched at RTVE2. It is the first program about conciliation and responsibility within a home. The program includes a coach who is aimed to find a balance in performing household chores.
The FPSC has among its objectives the promotion and training of women within the society.
All this is part of the project “Workshops for Women of the XXI Century” that seeks the empowerment of young women in the society through their insertion into the labor market and also to provide them with knowledge of the reality that needs to be faced in this process.
