On Nov.14, 2008 in the town of Tanaayel, Bekaa Valley, Lebanon, there was an inauguration ceremony of the technical aid production centre for the disabled which was led by the Arenciel NGO and financed by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation Development (AECID). This was implemented with the collaboration of the Foundation of the Social Promotion for Culture (FPSC).
The following people attended this ceremony: D. Miguel Benzo, Spanish Ambassador to Lebanon; Pilar Lara Alén, FPSC President; Irene Bernabéu, Antena AECID in Lebanon; Pierre Issa, Founding Member Arcenciel; Fadi Moujaees, Executive Director Arcenciel; Begoña Casas, FPSC person in charge of projects in the Middle East; and Pablo Barrera, FPSC Middle East representative.
This initiative is noted as part of the cooperation agreement financed by the AECID and signed with the FPSC for improving the attention for disabled people in the Middle East by way of the North-South-South cooperation model. With the beginning of the Bekka production centre, the second one proposed by Arcenciel in Lebanon, necessities were provided to the disabled not only in Lebanon but in other countries as well.
Since 1993 and with the support of the AECID and the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Arcenciel and the FPSC have worked together for the integration and improvement of living conditions for the disabled.
