In the framework of the “Sustainable and equitable rural development in the West Bank including the start and use of responsible management of land and water resources for small and medium farmers” agreement, funded by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation AECID, and implemented by the FPSC in consortium with the Rural Development Association (PARC), last 1st June the fair for rural products produced by cooperatives of the Tulkarem Governship was inaugurated, being supported by the governor of this locality.

A total amount of 26 cooperatives participated in the fair, where they presented their products, such as home food (labaneh, pickles, peasant pies, etc) and Palestinian traditional handcrafts.
The fair was fully organized by actors working on the agreement, including the production, the organization and the media coverage.

One of the cooperatives, Thonabeh Women Cooperative, participated in this fair thanks to the support provided by the agreement. The agreement includes among its principal activities, providing machinery, equipment and training  for the cooperatives to be able to begin with their own income creation projects. Regarding Thonabeh Women Cooperative, its activity is aimed to food processing.

The fair has a great assistance. More than 300 people, coming from Tulkarem and Qalquliah, attended the inauguration. The main goal has been helping cooperatives in the marketing and sale of its products. During two days, on 1st and 2nd June, the cooperatives sold a large proportion of its production and made themselves known in the local market.
