“Since 2007, the Fundación Awards recognize individual and institutional social commitment which plays a relevant role in making the world a better place.” (Fundación MAPFRE).

In 2015, Fundacion MAPFRE has granted the FPSC with the Best Initiative in Social Action Award for its project “Protection and humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees with disabilities in the Za’atari camp (Jordan)” that joints the effort in humanitarian aid that the Foundation aims to relieve suffering, protect human dignity and save lives in the three countries that have been affected the most by war since the beginning of the conflict, in 2011, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. This work is particularly aimed to the most vulnerable collectives, since they are who suffer the most the effects of the armed conflicts: minors, elderly, women and people with disabilities.

The award granted by the Fundacion MAPFRE recognizes, in particular, the humanitarian work that is done in the clinic specialized in services of physiotherapy and rehabilitation that was established by the FPSC  in 2013 in the Za’atari camp (Jordan).

In this clinic, disabled refugees are attended, particularly children with cerebral palsy. Therapy and psychosocial services, as well as technical aids(crutches, canes, wheelchairs, orthopedic aids) are offered to them. From the start of the project, the FPSC has attended around 2.050 people and has provide 70% of them with technical aids.

FPSC is the only Spanish NGO with presence in the Za’atari camp (Jordan), and the only NGO that offers this type of services in the camp.
