On 30 and 31 May, in the framework of the FPSC project “Organized farmers strengthen the social, economic and productive fabric, and their living conditions in the micro watershed Guineamayo “, funded by  Obra Social “la Caixa”,  an important training course both theoretical and practical has been performed on the issue: “Productive process of the avocado cropping”.

This course was performed by Farming School of Education and Health ESCAES and was attended by 30 male farmers and 30 female farmers members of the “Avocado Producers and Marketers Association (ASPALTA)”, who were interested in the acquisition of techniques and tools that will improve and increase their production and their access to the market.

In Cajamarca, the domestic demand of avocado per annum represents 1,84%, but the production is not enough. Through this project 40 hectares of avocado are expected to be installed in order to obtain an increasing average yield of 2,000 kilos/hectares in the third year, and to reach an optimal 12.250 kilos/hectare in the sixth and seventh year of the plantation.

The cropping of  hass and strong avocado, with the proper technical management will increase and improve the production, guaranteeing the sales in the local, regional and national market.
