Good morning:
It has been three weeks since we arrived to Amman. After doing an introductory online course about humanitarian aid, we have been working in different tasks at the office, as arranging and scanning receipts, writing reports about the meetings we have attended as well as understanding in a better way (both theoretical and practical) the different projects that the Foundation is performing in Jordan.
Jordan is an arid country with several water problems, but those are trying to be solved by many foundations, as JOHUD (Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development) which has a convenio with FPSC. We saw their performance in a village in Balqa governorate. This experience taught us that the aid provided does not only deal with water issues, it also reminds us that there is a big social work to contribute to better welfare.
Because of the Sirian War many citizens had left their homes and go to other near countries. One of these countries is Jordan. Nowadays, Zaatari is one of the biggest refugee camp in the world and the biggest one in the country. We had the opportunity to attend three meetings where we deal with general issues about the camp situation. Also we visited the clinic and the FPSC office inside the camp and we could help giving some ideas for future restructuring.
Our experience here in Jordan is not only professional, but also about knowing a new culture that sometimes seems to be really different… so why not live this stay during Ramadan? Last week we were in downtown at Iftar time and we were invited by few men to breakfast with them in the middle of the street, in front of Al Hussein Mosque. Again Jordan people were really kind to us and we were surprised positively by their hospitality, as it has happened so many times during this trip.
Best regards xoxo
