The Global Training Centre for Women, CEFIM, keeps on with its services to women from La Paz and El Alto, by the inauguration of new high level premises that will be a reference as Professional Training Centre for Women. The total surface built is 1980 m2. It includes class rooms and workshops fully equipped. It has capacity enough to teach 300 pupils at the same time, in the areas of Gastronomy, Hostelry, Paediatrics and Geriatrics. Institutional donors for the project have been OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) and Comunidad de Madrid (CAM).

The inauguration act was attended by the Major of the city of La Paz, Mr. Juan del Granado Cossío; the Ambassador of Spain, Mr. Ramón Santos Martínez; the respresentative of the Spanish Fundación Promoción Social de la Cultura, Ms. Teresa María Perez Payán; and by the CEFIM friends that have supported the project for the last 20 years. A commemorative plaque was unveiled and after that all the attendants visited the new premises. The event was concluded with a cocktail that included excellent pieces of Nouvelle Andean Cuisine prepared by the pupils of the Centre.

The Major of La Paz congratulated CEFIM for its excellent educational efforts supporting the Bolivian woman, and he invited the Centre to be a member of the Women Council in the Bicentenary of the City of La Paz. On the other hand, the Ambassador of Spain remarked how these kind of projects which support Education and Development of women, are a consequence of the solidarity of the Spanish people and its close links to Bolivian people, of the people of Madrid and La Paz in this specific case.

 

The Fundación Promoción Social de la Cultura representative, Ms. Teresa María Pérez Payán, remarked Education and Institutional Reinforcement as the components that have close relation with the institutional goals of the Foundation, working towards a cooperation that looks for the improvement of people, respecting its own identity and culture, in cooperation with local organizations. “We work not to impose solutions, but to search together for the better results”, said Ms. Pérez Payán.

Ms. Elizabeth Wilde, CEFIM’s Director, thanked the donors for their valuable cooperation. She also thanked the Spanish Ambassador and the Major of La Paz for attending the act, the engineers, architects and the rest of the construction team for building up the new premises and all the staff and pupils for supporting the project. On top of that, the pupil Azucarlola Párraga remarked the global training she receives at CEFIM and the enormous support from OFID (OPEC Fund for International Development) and CAM (Autonomous Region of Madrid).
